OEM cup holder insert or FJ Cruiser inserts?

Silly question, but I'm tired of my hot coffee flying all over the cabin. My LC doesn't have the OEM "butterfly". So I turned to MUD and did a search and discovered that I can buy an OEM butterfly from EBAY or I can go with two individual inserts that apparently came on the FJ cruiser. See below:

I'd prefer to go with the inserts because I'm not sure how robust the butterfly is, but I often use a cup with a handle and that won't work with these. So, if you have one or the other, please chime in.

I have both, the butterfly in my LC100 and the Cup inserts in my FJ. Personally I like the cup inserts better, they seem to grip the item and are a bit taller than the cup holders with butterfly on the LC100. But in defense of the butterfly, they are adjustable to fit different diameter cups/bottles, and they do hold them snug. If I were putting them in my LC100 I would go with the butterfly to stay with original kit. I am surprised they are that expensive, I would check the dealer for pricing as well or a junkyard.

Let us know how the FJ inserts work in the hundred series. Can you shut the lid to the cup holder compartment with them in there?

^I actually realized this weekend that the cover can not be closed with the FJ inserts so I'm back to buying the OEM butterfly. I ordered a new one from ebay for $40 - says it's for an '03-'07 LX (and not compatible with my '03 LC) so hoping their chart is wrong.

excuse my ignorance, but why not just use the cup holders in the flip up section of the center console? they kinda adapt to size, but more importantly they cradle your cup higher up so they are less prone to tipping over. maybe i'm just a cheapskate that can't justify $50 for a cup holder part when there are already 4 up front. in regards to the flap over the front cup holders, how often do you actually use the flap? i don't recall ever using ours in the past 6yrs, even forgot it was there until i was cleaning the interior

Did the FJ inserts fit? I never close the lid anyway and I was considering them. I can't find the dimensions.

I didn't end up buying them. Went with the oem butterfly. Like it better because I often take a regular coffee cup with a handle with me and I can take the butterfly out and the cup sits flat - it wouldn't work with the FJ inserts.
