Has anyone else had the unique experience of hitting a deer yet with their Fj:crybaby: I was heading down the highway spotted 3 deer on the side of the road, one ran out so I slowed right down as it turned and ran into the driver's corner of the bumper. It bumped into the middle of the highway stunned. Look to see if any damage and the corner had broken along with a crack all along the top of the bumper and also broken the plastic fender skirt. Couldn't believe it, so ordered an ARB bumper and insurance company said just have to pay for upgrade. Considering how pathetic the bumper stood up against this deer don't think it would be great against a tree or other trail obstacle. Oh bye the way the fender skirt and mud guard are both more expensive than the entire front bumper.

Had a simular proplem swerved to miss a deer and hit the guard rail . The front bumper only had a small scratch but it busted all the clips holding it on. Theres not much support behind the stock bumper.

In the first month of owning mine I had 4 very close deer strikes.
That was enough for me. ARB went on shortly thereafter.

good reason, excuse

Let my wife read some of the posts and told her that we need an aftermarket bumper ASAP. We live in Western Colorado, lot of deer here. Another good reason/excuse to get one. Michael:D

My wife was a little hesitant with regards to spending the money for an after market bumper until this incident. Once I also explained to her that fortunately this deer was a yearling, if it had been a full size deer it could have been in my lap. Fortunately it also didn't touch the lights or grill. The autobody shop stated replacement on the lights in around $250.00 each. I think insurance companies should be providing discounts for installing an aftermarket bumper. I believe they do that in Australia. I will feel alot better with a chunk of steel in front of me instead of plastic.
