Hi guys,

I have an 07 LX470 I bought at the end of last year.

I noticed the roof rack on it is shorter than some of the older model 100 series.

Will I be able to install the older (longer) OEM rack on my truck without any mods to the body? Is it a plug and play ordeal?

Also, I was looking at aftermarket options like Gamiviti and wanted to ask if those require any body mods like drilling into the metal, etc.?

I had a bad experience with our old Sienna that we had for 11 years in the family, previous owner had windshield replaced and they cut the paint with a blade, over the years it developed into a large rust hole up there and started leaking water, so I am paranoid about doing anything to this vehicle that might lead to rust later on.

Thank you fellas!

There are 4 pairs of holes under the stock rack on my 03 LX on each side. There's a wide variety of ways you can bolt things down. I bought a set of the AO rails form Slee and swapped out the weak stock roof rack for a 4-crossbar Yakima setup on top of the AO rails.

Use silicone with the bolts and make sure everything is plugged with a bolt and silicone and nothing should leak or rust.

There indeed are 4 sets of mounting points under the rails.

I didn't notice/search for this until I had installed my Gamiviti mounts with a ton of RTV silicone and it didn't line up with the mounts.

Your issue will be with the black metal strips that run in the channels. They'll need to be removed or cut to accommodate a rack with different mount spacing. There are actually 4 sets of bolts per side, and a ninth bolt so that the middle OEM mount can be positioned further back for shorter 3-mount racks.

In the dimensions below, the rectangles in the channels are where my OEM rack (long, 3-mount) was installed. The circles are where additional bolts/holes are located that were not used for my rack, but could be used for aftermarket or shorter OEM racks.
