Had my 2009 troopy since Feb., very bare-bone version and have been building it up.
Question is that my odometer keeps flashing, and registered with margin of error.
Facts:
1. My tyres are 285/75-16
2. The O/D shows only 90-95% of actual mileage. Eg. 100km of travel, registered 95km on the O/D.
3. The speedo shows about 120% of actual speed, Eg. 100kph when the GPS apps show 80kph.
4. Pin at tranny was missing, replaced with a loaner, and that's the result with original Denso sensor.
5. Bought on complete unit, assume it's compatible, still does the same thing.

Anyone has experience or advise for this will be much appreciated.

Maybe some more details like engine/gearbox type and does it have a computer info would get you some replies.

Good idea, mate.

The engine is 1HZ, 4.2 naturally aspired
manual 5 speed
dashboard has no rev counter, only the speedo.

I havent owned an odometer with the LED type. Is it possibly telling you its time for timing belt change? Does it have the reset button?
Tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery?

1. Battery has been disconnected many times- welding, fix wiring... Still flashing
2. Timing belt possibility is scary. Any way to check the health of timing belt?
3. Don't know where the reset button is...

I forget how the timing belt renewal comes on in these. But they dont have bad timing belt warning. They just tell you that its done 100000klm since the last time it was changed. But as I said before, Im not sure how how the LED odometer lets you know, it was just something to consider.
On mine I have small red light from memory. It has a small switch hidden by a rubber grommet in the gauge. You take the grommet out and insert a small tool into it to turn it off.
How it operates on yours should be in your factory service manual.
Belts are usually checked for cracks or loose fibres, but they are cheap and if you dont know how old it is, it is best replaced along with the tensioner and spring.
Grey dust coming from the timing belt cover is a serious warning sign.
I bought the whole kit for about $40USD (aftermarket)

Hello,

I agree with @roscoFJ73. The mileage suggests it may be time to change the timing belt.

Time to check the FSM.

The week past I have th edash board oopen to check the lights. Found out that there was a warning light for "Timing belt", and the light and socket (H5, perhaps?) was missing. Replaced it with the seatbelt light, sure enough it lit up ever since.

Checked the timing belt, seems to be in good physical condition. Change it anyway, you think:p:p?

Its up to you. Timing belts should be changed every 100000klms regardless of how they look. You shouldnt wait until they look shabby.
Do you have an owners handbook? They give a comprehensive run down on the dash functions etc.

No hand book, any suggestions where I can download one?
Looking for a timing belt kit now...

Just wondering, assuming the flashing is the sign to tell me to change the timing belt, is there any way to reset this warning? Or it will just magically stop flashing and the "TIMING BELT" light on the dashboard will also seize to shine?
