'99 470 here. Discovered I had a bad U joint on the rear driveshaft so I ordered new joints for both ends. Pulled it all apart yesterday to discover that the cap diameters are different on the front of the rear driveshaft. One is 27 mm and the other is 29mm. All of the part specs I've found point to both bring 29mm.

Has anyone else run into this?

I think they are different on your rig. I would call @cruiseroutfit to confirm and to get the correct parts ordered.

In stock form, the driveshaft use the same U-joint on both ends. However, the front and rear driveshaft use different u-joints. 98-02 are also different than 03-07, both front and rear.

Thanks for the help. I've discovered that I have a Dorman rear drive shaft so that explains the difference in the u joints
How did you find out you have a Dorman drive shaft? I have a 98 LX470 and both rear U joint caps measure 27mm. Everywhere on line says they should be 29mm. It's driving me crazy.
