Many of you know that my week-long October camping plan got trashed by a company construction project ---- so we plan to hit the woods for every weekend of decent weather that we can find.
Dendy & Dale (NashevilleRover & RoverTrader; guess what they drive) have helped me select a group weekend for us all to get together in Great Smokey Mountains National Park's Cataloochee Campground to watch the elk in the area during the rut.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park - Cataloochee (U.S. National Park Service)
The campground has bathrooms but no showers or electric; $17 a night, first come, first served.
For the moment, it looks like we'll just be going Saturday and Sunday; I think that D&D will make it a 4-day weekend ---- I'll work on the boss for Friday off also.
If you've never seen a full-grown elk bugling to his harem, you've got to witness it.
