North from duck you have the beach access as mentioned. You can ride the sand up to the VA state line and then there is some exploring to do back in the dunes on the sound side. IF you go south towards hatteras there are several beach access points but they are mostly in and out, very few connections. Im sure there are more further south where the dune buggy rentals are, I saw them blasting around sound side below Frisco.

Not a lot of wheelin per se but good opportunity to get the LX's toes sandy.
There is a wheeling park down east but its at least a couple hours from duck, inland, and probably terribly buggy this time of year.

Beach Wheeling

If you head north thru Corolla up to Corova and the state line, you pass Pennys Hill, which is a nice place to stop and let the kids play.

Its a mile or 2 north of where you get on the beach. See the map link below. Its the big white circle.

You cannot drive on the hill directly.
You can drive around the back and there are some nice sand hills to climb.
**Warning, some of the trails go right over into the swamp.
Also, the sand changes all the time so sometimes it is harder to get in/out. I would use the budd system.

Be careful on the neighborhood roads in Corova. There are some wicked big holes and if it has rained you wont be able to tell how deep they are. Usually the far left/right lines are OK.

thanks for ya'lls help, and nice 60^^

Thanks,
Yeah, dont miss the opportunity to go up there .
Its so close when you are in Duck.

The wild horses are everywhere. You can just stop anywhere and throw out chairs and blankets and make a day of it.
There is a bathroom/rest area towards the north end. It is about 1/4 mile south of the Corova Firestation. There is a firetruck sign at the crossover.

Its mostly an easy drive in the sand. You might need 4lo to get over some dunes but you have the v8.

Bring what you need because there are no stores up there.

Have fun.
