I have a Foxwell NT-510 that I keep handy for quick stuff that doesn't merit busting out the laptop. It's small enough that I can just leave it in the cargo drawers. I don't have the Toyota specific software (but I do have it for another brand, and it works well for that).

According to scantool the lx and Mx+ differ only in Ford Gm special scope. So lx will work for Toyota products. Lx is $60. Android and window only though. Doesn't say anything in the specs about the toyota specific modules (AHC, body, tpms, srs, etc)
Correct, so if you have an iPhone or IPad you must get an MX+, also L unit may have some hidden fees for downloading custom PIDs. Just get an MX+ Plus and call it a day, Best for monitoring.

One more question - from my initial research it looks like Carista is the only option of these three (ScanTool MX+, BlueDriver the others) that can change the 'optional' stuff like DRL, windows via remote, etc?
Techstream allows a lot of that stuff in test mode, you can even flash all the check lights on your dash.

Does anyone know if Bluedriver can give you AHC pressures?

Not sure. Carista may have more options your looking for.
Agree. I don’t know if BlueDriver can show AHC data or not. I do know it couldn’t tell me anything useful on transmission temperatures. And there didn’t seem to be any way to add that functionality. Other OBD reader’s seem to have a lot more stuff and the ability to add PID’s.

I have a Scan Gauge on the top of my steering column. It does not do anything fancy but reads and clears codes. I have mine set to voltage ,water and trans temp and mileage.

I looked all over and couldn’t figure out if the BlueDriver could read AHC data or not, so I just took a chance and bought it on sale at Amazon a couple days ago. If it doesn’t, they have free returns. I’ll plug it in this weekend and see if I can get the data.

Might check out this thread. There is a lot of AHC specific stuff towards the end. I will say, if you are hoping to get a readout for front and rear pressures like the 100s had, this does does not exist in the 200 series. 200 only has a active pressure readout while the pump is on, and no readout when off.

there are also some scan tool recommendations scattered.

I concur with all of this.

All I would add is Carista allows you to change TPMS ID's and change presets that BlueDriver does not. I have both, but always defer to Carista - you can check out Carista App and Adapter info here: Carista OBD2 Adapter/App

HTH

To OP… If you want full use of Carista, there’s a subscription fee…yearly. Or monthly. I use it to easily tweak longer term hidden settings like DRL and more…then let it go dormant. I can add a month if needed again. Havent needed carista fir a year orso, but nice to have for certain settings changes.

Personally, I like a wired readers for frequent use. On mine Ihave an extension connector wireplugged into my obd2 socket. The extensionnhas an in-line powershut-off which prevents power leeching…which can be quite high with many bluetooth units and wired units too if left plugged in and on.

For me, its handy and quick for resetswhen needed…and no fiddling with my phone.

The unit i keep plugged is simple and small. For true analysis/tests/diagnosis I have a larger, smarter wired unit plugged in manually but infrequently.

I mention this stuff only to illustrate that there are many ways to skin the obd2 cat, and over time, you may end up tweaking how you handle this stuff.

Just realized I forgot to post the thread.

What code did you use for the x gauge trans temp I can’t get mine to work…

I don't remember. I went online and got a list of codes to try until I got the right one.
