Hi
I have a Landcruiser 100 V8 and I wont use the OBD2 connector or what I think is a OBD2 connector. I try it with the ISO reader from Scantool and my laptop but no success..
When I check the pinout of the Connector I got 4,7,9,13,14,16 I think I miss pin 5
Is it anyone who has got this working on his LandCruiser and can check the pinout of the Connector.

Welcome to the forum!

Isn't there a schematic of this in the Factory Wiring Diagram?

Welcome.

Can you clarify? There is a thread a while back on the OBD2 systems and what you need to use. I posted the information for the 100 series i.e. what platform is needed to read the codes. Your scantool might not be compatible.

I've been thinking about ordering the OBD-II reader from www.ScanTool.net. From the diagrams posted, LC's appear to use protocol ISO 9141/14230. My 2000 LC has wires on pins 4, 5, 7, 9, 13, 14, 16 so it does appear your's is missing PIN 5. According to ScanTool, the PWM and VPW protocols also have a wire on pin 5 for the signal ground (pin 4 is the chassis ground and pin 16 is +12v). The J1962 connector for OBD-II is located directly above the accelerator peddle. I'm holding off ordering from ScanTool until your's works. Here's another web site for reading codes: http://www.obddiagnostics.com/

Bad news...
Same facts: LC 1999 sold i Sweden/Europe
A OBD2 look a like Connector
Scantool ISO Interface connected to my laptop
When I connect the Interface and the ignition is OFF then the green LED is ON
but when I turn the ignition ON the green LED is OFF ?!?! Not good!!!
Okej as I indicate in the first mess. I think I miss the pin 5 (Signal Ground) so I tried to put a jumper between pin 4 and pin 5
read more here http://www.scantool.net/support/ind...a>&PHPSESSID=ec32dd4231263b3a4fe05afdba8a4172

and then LED is ON when I turn ignition ON, thats good!!!
but then I test the communication link with Hyperterminal from my Laptop
reset the interface atz command works but any other command returns BUS INIT: ...ERROR
Read more here: http://www.scantool.net/support/ind...32&PHPSESSID=ec32dd4231263b3a4fe05afdba8a4172

... right now I don´t know what do to....

There’s was something that interested me about this one at http://www.digimoto.com/.
I tried to send an e-mail and got it returned. Please keep us posted on what you are doing to get it going.

From reading the ScanTool web site, it appears your 1999 model made for the European market is not compliant with OBD-II protocol. This was required on vehicles sold in the USA in 1996 and after but not until 2000 in EC countries (Sweden?). Vehicles sold in the US before 1996 had on board diagnostics that displayed trouble code numbers by blinking the check engine light (blink codes). There were differenct methods for entering the diagnostic mode such as turning the ignition key off-on three times in rapid succession or shorting two pins on a diagnostic connector with a jumper wire. Before purchasing the official factory service manuals, I was using the Max Ellery repair manual for 1990-02 LC's. I no longer have the manual but do recall it mentioned extracting blink codes by shorting two pins. This might be the case with your 99. There were also after market "readers" available from local auto parts stores for the various manufacturers (Ford, GM, etc) that plugged into the diagnostic connector. They displayed a message instead of a code number.

I thought you Swedish guys all drove Volvos. I've still got two 1983 models, each with nearly a half million kilometers, and never had the engines apart. Great cars!

According to the Scantool web site the LC's produced for the EC market (Sweden?) did not come equipped with OBD-II until model year 2000. According to the Max Ellery LC manual, trouble codes for your vehicile can be extracted by placing a jumper wire between pins 4 and 13 on the DLC-3 plug and reading the diagnostic code on the multi information display. It goes on to say, "Refer to Diagnostics Chapter for code analysis" but I don't see this chapter in the manual anywhere. The following web site gives descriptions for LC codes: http://www.diagnosticdialog.com/LookupCode.asp I'd be interested in buying your Scantool but it's probably more hassle than it's worth to ship it from Sweden to the US.

Hi,
Jörgen, did you ever get this to work on your LC? I am experiencing the same problem now. It seems like the Torque app I am using is having problems negotiating with the ODB2...
