Obd II flashing (8888)

I just bought an 06 lx470 and it is in beautiful condition and runs great except when I was idling for about 15 min yesterday it started to stumble so I turned it off and came back to it 30 min later and it was fine so I drove it home without a problem. I plugged in my scanner To see if it might have a code and all it does is flash 8888 and won’t communicate with the car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Can you take it a local auto parts store and have them try their scanner?
