Forgive me if this has been asked before. Has anyone been using OBD Fusion on their CarPlay retrofit head unit? It is my understanding that it is now available on CarPlay. What has been your experience? I don't have a carplay module currently (I returned the cheapo amazon device I purchased) but I am reconsidering beatsonic for my 17 LX.

A bit of discussion here (and the surrounding posts): DIY Smartphone Scan Gauge - OBD Fusion - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/diy-smartphone-scan-gauge-obd-fusion.1269979/post-15618307

I have a RoadTop CarPlay unit and while it does have OBD Fusion, it is only a text display is is way too small to be of any real use while driving. I only use OBD Fusion dashboards while towing and still use my iPhone for that.

However, it is my understanding the an upcoming (?) version of CarPlay will allow the creation of real time gauges. I'm hoping that happens and that RoadTop can be upgraded.

The CarPlay app is quite limited for me. It only shows very basic info. I tried it once and haven’t bothered again.

I’ve been able to get pretty much all of the same data from my obdfusion app on my phone to go on screen options on CarPlay (eg. Gearbox temps, fuel trims, tire pressure/temp/position, TC lockup, etc.). You can have up to three separate screens with 10 data points each.

Bumping an older thread but has anyone been able to get accurate transmission pan and converter temps for the 8 speed from OBD Fusion? I see above with the 17 LX its doing the same as mine and reporting much cooler temps. 102.2 for the pan and a whole 3.2 degrees for the converter. Mine at running temp after a drive was reporting about 130 and 66 with city driving. Outside of being annoying, I'd like to get an accurate temp for setting the transmission fluid level. Same results in carplay as on the dashboard in app.

It’s not an issue with the app. It’s the sensor/ECU that reports a very low temp. This is what techstream reports when the car has been off and sitting in 40°F:

Good to know, thanks! Too bad its usesless as a data point. I'll replace it on the dash with KCLV. Hopefully pan temp is accurate. Ovearall the transmission seems to run 30-40 degrees cooler than the 6 speed from my experience thus far.

I don’t think it’s useless for towing at least. It climbs above the pan temp when unlocked and under load and then the pan temp starts to climb. It drops when locked up and then the pan temp starts to drop slowly after. This seem consistent with how temps should behave in an automatics when towing. I haven’t spent a lot of time rock crawling so I don’t know if it would be useful for that. For everyday driving and expectedly low atf temps, it’s definitely inaccurate at start up but not a data point that really needs to be monitored IMO.

Yup. Same here. Starts at -40 but will eventually exceed Oil Temp 1 at very high temps.

Seems the PID scaling is not right.
