Hey folks,
So I've have a check engine light on, got it checked and its an o2 sensor that needs replacing. Any good recommendations for aftermarket or should I just bite the bullet and spend the 300$ and get them from Toyota. Also, to improve gasoline mileage should I take it out of AWD for longer trips (I'm assuming that is what the button is for under the hazards) and are there any good suggestions for a fuel additive to improve gas mileage as well? Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!!!

About 120 for OEM fronts from Amazon. This might help you as well http://tlcfaq.com/main/2012/09/oxygen-sensor-o2-part-numbers-and-replacement/

Did you just assume that the center locker button takes you out of all wheel drive? It does... It puts you in four wheel drive. Not a good idea for pavement. I Just bought my sensors off of amazon @$60 each. Work fine. I suggest you read your owners manual before you take road trips all locked up.

Having the center diff locked isn't going to hurt you on the pavement... the front and rear are still open.

The Land Cruiser 100 is constant 4 wheel drive - no need to parse the language.

To the OP the button you referred to under the hazard locks/unlocks the center differential but all wheels are driven no mater what postion.

That button locks the center differential. It won't save any gas... You definitely don't want it depressed on pavement. Even if you did an aftermarket 2WD addition, it still doesn't save much.

I would be very, very skeptical of any gas mileage improvements from additives. If it were cost effective, we'd all be using it.

Even higher octane MPG boost is... a war on the forums. Some people observe it, some people don't.

It is my understanding that locking the center diff will still cause binding. I blew the transfer case seal on my old 4Runner from running 4WD on dry pavement (F&R unlocked). (If you're just driving straight, then no biggie.)

I won't experiment myself, but those that want to, lock the diff and make turns in an empty parking lot. If the tires start squealing, that means you could potentially be doing some damage to the system.

Front wheels travel further in any turn. If you are center locked and sending 50front/50rear... Logic points to binding unless I'm missing something. I agree with previous post. And sorry, rob. I didn't mean to call our full time four wheel drive "all wheel drive." Instead of "open" or "locked," I call it "normal" and "hero" mode. But I'll try to use real terms while on the forum.
