Ok guys...real time help here.

I've found an NV4500 from a 93-94 chevy dually 2wd.

The 2wd is a real issue. Came from a wrecked truck so it's supposed to be in excellent shape.

There is no adapter kit to match her up to a land cruiser case...only a Dana 300 or NP231

I plan on using a cummins or isuzu diesel for the swap.

I suppose replacing my rear axle with a much stronger centered rear axle cut down to fit wouldn't be a huge deal breaker since i do use to cruiser to pull my boats out of the water quite frequently

But if possible i'd like to keep my pto winch for the cool factor so id like to retain the 3 speed case if possible.

Do any of you know how i could use the land cruiser case with the 2wd NV4500...new main shaft/output shaft????

The tranny is 250 bucks if i pick it up this weekend...kinda hard to NOT buy a 250 dollar nv4500 if she's in as good of shape as the seller claims...the 300 would be a great upgrade...as would a beefeir rear axle.

I'd pass just because it's a 2wd. Tons of headaches to switch it over to 4wd so you can use it with a transfer case, or a gear reduction box.

They can be converted. All it takes is money and some of the parts can be very expensive. You might be money-ahead, though, to just buy a rebuilt tranny in the configuration that you need.

thanks for the info...I was worried that the mainshaft would be a deal breaker. For 250 bucks..i figured id ask anyway.

Mine was a 2wd that I changed the mainshaft on. if you or a friend have manual tranny experience it's not an impossible task. I think I paid about $130 for the 4wd mainshaft from advance adapters (if I remember correctly). Price sounds very good if it's a lower mileage tranny if you can change the shaft. the only thing i'd do differently on mine is change the 2nd gear synchros while I had it apart.... oh well!
