Ugh. So I got my new carb in, redid all the vacuum hoses so they go where they're supposed to....but it still runs too rish and won't pass emissions. What's left!!! How do I tune this thing to pass?!?! I'm out of ideas and almost out of patience, I've had my 'cruiser since July and still can't put a license plate on it, I'M SO FRUSTRATED!

Where I live, emissions, doors, tires etc... are optional, so I'm no expert, but.... Are you sure it's the carb that's causing the vehicle to fail the test, and not some other component.

That being said, there are (from what I remember reading), some guys on here with a wealth of knowledge of some little tricks to get a vehicle to pass the sniff test. I was amazed at thier resourcefulness and results.

Where are you located? What kind of test is it? Dyno?

You still have all the smog hardware installed? Got a factory smog manual?

Give us somemore info and your numbers.

smog parts

I have a lot of smog-related parts for sale that I removed from my 1986 FJ60.

I haven't had it fully re-tested just yet, i took it do my usual shop but his machine was broken so I went somewhere new, and they just ran the test unofficially and said it wouldn't pass, so I didn't get a result print-out (nor did I have to pay thankfully). I'll still go get it tested even to fail though, I have a few weeks to get it fixed and retested without paying.

It's not a dyno test, more of an enema test. They stick a probe up the tailpipe. Previously, I was failing on the Co2, about 4x's too high, and high 2500 rpm's. The carb is clean as a whistle and the vaccuum hoses are all plugged in correctly. There is another shop in Provo that I've heard can make any carb pass, so I'll run it over there. I'll get the numbers for you soon though. Thanks guys!
