Coastal Cruiser Meeting - Thursday, October 13, 2005.
We convened for supper at the ABC Restaurant on #3 Road as usual. A few members ordered steaks and they were tough as leather. Most participants agreed that we must find a better place for these dinners.
The meeting started at 7:45 with the following members present:
Garry Chretien, Rod McDonald, Les Reyda, Steve Tetu, Barry Probert, Chris Hotchkiss, Martin Stol, Gary Telford, Marcin Cichy, Paul Kuriyama, Mike McTague, Gary Broeckling, Glen Brown, Rob Millson, and Bill Wilkinson.
The main topic was the beginning of plans for the Christmas party this year. Most members agreed that the new River Rock Casino would be a great place if they have a suitable setup and price. Rob Millson is going to go for a tour there and check it out. Also, the consensus was that each member should pay $15.00 each person to help offset the costs. Also, the big raffle may contain a Costco 8,000 lb winch as the grand prize.
Jackets: this ongoing topic was discussed and Steve showed his $30. insulated jacket from Work Warehouse that might be suitable as a club jacket and will enquire re prices of embroidery.
The recent club runs to Mount Cheam and “Forbidden Ridge” were also discussed. More pictures are being installed at www.coastalcruisers.ca . Over the winter, Marcin suggested a run to the hotsprings east of Pemberton might be considered and someone else suggested a run to Clear Creek if the winter is mild in February. This last winter there was little if any snow up there in February, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Another topic discussed was the possible purchase of ICOM hand held IC-V8 VHF transceivers by at least six club members. Bill is going to negotiate with a radio shop for a group discount. We will have to set up a ham training course if this goes ahead, apparently the test is not all that difficult now that the Morse Code is not required.
The raffle was won as follows:
- Rod M won a neat multipliers kit.
- Steve won a swell 4 ½” Black & Decker power grinder.
- Mike won a high-end safety belt to keep from falling off his roof.
- Glen won some cool chrome pedal covers
- Barry won a sweet 12V air compressor
- Rob won a crummy old can of Creamo coffee lightener which he immediately threw in the garbage. (He likes his coffee black)
The meeting ended about 10 pm and members drifted off into the darkness…..

Thanks for the report, Bill. I would have come, but I've been working way too much lately and was dead tired. 
Hope you can make it to the Christmas party. There's no date set yet, we'll have to get on that right away. At first we thought it was practical on the thurday night of the December club meeting, but then we thought, lets do it up right on a friday or saturday night and have a blast. Anyway, Rob is going over there, hopefully with no money in his pockets, to check it out. But it might be a lot of fun to eat and then spin some one-armed bandits, especially if a band is playing too.

Come to our next meeting on November 10 and meet the group and have a look at some of this diverse collection of Land Cruisers. If its to your liking, you can sign up and the club fees are $35. for first time members and $25. for renewals. We probably won't have any more club runs until spring, although some hardy souls do go out wheel'n during the winter, possibly to a hot springs somewhere.

Hi there everybody, i went over to the River Rock to talk to them about our Christmas party and was told that they are already booked up for the holidays so we will have to figure out another venue for our festivities, any ideas?

You want to go skateboarding on the evening of our party? If we change it to skateboarding, how do we know if you will even show up Ratpuke; after all, you are about 1000 Km away! 
Are you going to skate all the way down here? How will Rob skate after a case of beer? We don't want to sound like cheapskates, but how much would it cost? What will the meal be; flounder or skate? Are you skating on thin ice with this idea? We'll just have to talk to the board.

That's easy - Ratpuke will have Bruce and Deny tied to the skateboard, pulling her and the trusty Prado along... Mush boys, Mush...

It is a live dinner / comedy show. Loads of laughs...
Maybe we better send El Presidente over to the Giggle Dam to check it out.

Been there, lots of fun, food is fair, laughed, very loud, very crowded, no way for raffle, and did I forget it's very loud
plus parking sucks if you're driving a Cruiser.
I do recommend the place though for a good night out
