So the dually is thowing an EGR code. ('90 F350 with the 7.5 460). This was one of the early models where you just get a generic code. Bite the bullet and replace the EGR, or something else to look for first.

If it's vacuum operated, take it off and test it. Clean it & test again to be sure. Possible crud built up in the engine passages plugging it up. Look for some sort of vac or elect control that turns it on at a certain temp and makes that functions properly.

I don't have a code#, just that it was an Egr problem..

This one is solenoid activated. Lot's of miles so carbon buildup could be making it stick.

Yeah, typically carbon build-up between the solenoid actuated needle-valve and seat...

You do need the exact code though. OBD1 system usually require a simple jumper, which makes the engine light flash n times to describe the error-code.

EGR codes can misleading, as something like a faulty air flow sensor or O2 sensor can also trigger them.

Yep, that is what I've heard. I just don't want to start throwing parts at it till I can pin it down some more.

Re; the code, this is all he could give me:

Memory 32 EGR (EVAP/EPT) signal too low.. What is my next step?

I'll look that up when I get to the shop in the a.m.
Cleaning the EGR is still step #1.

I went to step #2, bought a new one, just need time to get it replaced. It didn't include the sensor, for what they want for one of these, it should be, and gold plated. Probably won't be able to deal with it till this weekend, if you find something in the meantime....
Thanks, John
