I replaced my driver side door on my tow rig before it went to paint. It is a 1972 GMC Pick Up truck.

I'm having a bit of a difficult time lining up the striker with the striker plate on the driver side.

These pictures are of what is happening.

I added a few 3/8 washers on the back side of the stricker so it lines up horizontally. I cannot get it to line up vertically.

If I add washers to the door hinges, the door seam is all wrong. The rear top corner of the door is also hitting the cab.

Can you not move the lock mechanism itself within the door, instead of the striker on the body? It should have some bolts going into the door that allow for adjustment.

The latching mechanism is held in by three screws that have countersuck holes. I have a bolt in the top one right now. No moving it unless I move the holes.

I used a different locking mechanism since the one I took off the original door was cut almost all the way through.
