I suck and haven't been involved with the group in a long time. Been busy!
I thought I would reach out to everyone and let you know I am hosting a benefit show on 12/1 for Guitars for Vets.
Guitars for Vets is a 501(c)3 charity which supports veterans with PTSD through music therapy. Vets take a 10-week course and upon graduation receive a brand new guitar package to keep for life. They also can continue with future lessons offered by folks like me. I have been involved with them since this summer and the Phoenix chapter just graduated a class of 5.
The goal is to raise enough funds to purchase 50 guitars for 50 vets for my 50th! We are 86% of goal as of today which is amazing!
The show is at Last Exit Live in near downtown Phoenix. Doors open at 6pm and first live band at 7pm. We have 4 amazing bands with legendary AZ musicians of many genres. 2 Veteran bands will also be playing. Murphy's Outlaw featuring Brian Blush, Southwest by Midnight, Jim Bachmann and the Day Drinkers, and Rockhard! Plus G4V graduates the Acoustic Outcasts and the Veteran Jam Band.
100% of your ticket price or online donation will be going to Guitars for Vets. My wife and I are covering the credit card fees charged.
I am not a veteran but have many family and friends who are. Some have PTSD. I have played guitar since I was 13 and it has saved my life countless times. Music therapy is such a powerful force with these veterans.
Anyway, I hope to see some of you at the show. It will be an amazing event.
