My wife really enjoyed the CO trout fishing from her youth. I've taken her to FL for snooks in the canals, to WV for smallies in the Potomac, and to the Flag area for summertime trout. Of course, I can't forget he CO river for stripers and cats. So far, nothing has compared to her preference, so I'm looking to Mud for advice.

Anyone frequent areas in N AZ that could share pointers? That would include choosing a small (12-14ft small), very simple fishing boat to get out to the better spots in the summer heat.
Any trout streams, or are we limited to lakes? I plan to spend time on azgfd.gov, but am asking here in advance.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Wow. I definitely should have looked at Game and Fish first. Looks like there's lots of info, including interactive maps. To this date, I'd only visited the hunting portion.

I just moved to Sedona and have fished Oak Creek several times but now that I live here, I want to explore the whole creek and find some Native's or Brown's.

One of my favorites has been Reservation lake (spent many summers there as a kid). My kids caught they're first trout there as well. Just be prepared for dealing with the nocturnal camp raiding bruins..Also not uncommon to have frost on the ground on the 4th of July weekend.

There are several places I like, The Verde east of Pualden, Lynx Lake, Big Lake the Black River over by Globe on the reservation, Willow springs lake, Christopher creek. Hard to go wrong in the state

X2 Christopher Creek. I have had success at Woods Canyon trolling the far bank from the boat ramp with Mepps.

Chevlon Canyon lake Northeast of Payson. Great place to take the dog and your future wife for some great fishing and whoopie..

x2 on Big Lake and the Black River. Over here in the White Mtns. we've got hundreds of miles of streams for trout in the high country down to bass in the lower country. Everything from park and throw out the line to packing in and being outnumbered by black bear. If you're looking toward the White Mtns., let me know what type of fishing you're after and I can point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. My wife knows Lynx Lake from camping and fishing there with her sis 15 yrs ago.
I'd honestly not considered that far east (wht mts) but it now sounds intriguing. As you could guess, we've covered much of western AZ over the years living here.
