Alex Partridge I owe you buddy. Everyone that tried that hole got yanked out and I'm the only one pictured with a strap attached.
You'll get yours.

that was a killer hole...only person in our group to make it through was BMTHiker....he was first through...rest of us straddled it as we were running behind and it was raining steady....but I think that is what caused him to lose the bead on his front right tire which required a change on next turn...then some serious cleaning and such in camp early Saturday morning so he would have a good spare.

I can only imagine how it was after raining rest of day...all night...and some early in morning. It was some thick stuff....now whether I would take that hole or the deep, black, thick gooey hole on Saturday that smelled like someones septic tank is a toss up. :D :D

That's why I've quit airing down. LTBs and the yota 17" steelies just don't flange up very well.
I've thrown at least three Swampers on the trails. And spent numerous efforts trying to get the leaks out.
I think I'd have made that hole if I'd gone around again. I was trying to straddle and my RR pulled me in at the last 2-3 meters. Next time around I'd have hit it at jeep speed right down the grooves. But I was the last one through, sloppy fifths and I was tired of being there. Nobody in our group straddled it successfully.

And here I worried the whole weekend that since I had backed out that the group was going to be without its token horses ass.

yeah bill....I only aired down to 25lbs....but never can tell how the tires will fare. I wish though someone got a pic of my approach up the hill on Saturday...LOL. I was going up and tried to stay out of the ruts as they were deep and it was a little steep...and wouldnt you know it my ass end swung out and right rear went in where the left rear should have been....while the fronts were well in their grooves...tried to back and get out and realign three times. Then I heard Heather say the scariest words of the day, "Hey Rick, can you give Brock a line he needs help out the ruts and up the hill?"

So I did what any self disciplined, retired snake eater and spook, egotistical womanizing male would do.....I backed up again...turned on the rear locker to help out the A-Trac......and gave it steady throttle and let the Cruiser have its head and go.

The little brick whore started uphill crabbing sideways...eating up saplings and briars with her menacing Nitto Terra Grapplers, Budbuilt Rock sliders and passion for the hard way in life. She would hop and grind and jerk but she kept going uphill sideways...doing the dance of the best drivers and cars seen on TOKYO DRIFT as I drifted her hot tail up the muddy highway to ecstasy much to my amazement. Alas, no pics to be found of this harrowing feat of skill, audacity, and raw bitchiness by my BRICK HOUSE soon to be badges as FJ120 in chrome...but that is another tautry tale of splendor.

Anyway....the Gods were smiling on me as I had no punctures, no dents, no tires off the wheels.....so life was good....is good....VERY GOOD.

Thanks for all the experiences.....it was fantastic.

Since then I have downloaded and added all of my pictures (mostly mountains and landscapes) to all the ones I have seen loaded online so far and put them all in one location on my site...hope you guys did not mind.

Go to the link....scroll down and will see the Cullwohee pics....click on it and it will open and show you a few with multiple pages or you can select VIEW ALL. When you see the thumbnails you can also click on them individually in MEDIUM size or look below pic and do same as SMALL or ORIGINAL size. All should be resized to no larger than 800x600 as most of mine were shot in RAW and can be over 4 times that size easily.

Hope you enjoy and feel free to pull anything you want....I did not put a watermark on any of them.

Brock's Photo Galleries at pbase.com

Thanks again for one of the best if not the best wheeling experiences of my lifetime.....truly the people and location had a lot to do with it....but the area is more beautiful than I remember from my youth and summer trips up to Robbinsville to stay with my uncle and run the Nanatahalla or just go "mossing" with the locals. Thanks again...you will see me up there again...for better or worse. LOL

Wow Brock!! THose are some fantastic pictures. What kind of camera do you have?

Also, great story, that is toyota trails material for sure!!

a cheap Canon Pro1 but the secret is it comes with the L-series glass on it though it is not a SLR. It is my beginners camera to learn on....

remember only half the pictures are mine...the rest I mined from you guys and just wanted to put them all together as I did not have any of myself out there and you guys. I was having too much fun wheeling uphill sideways in full drift mode...LOL

Great pics Brock and good to meet you. I hope you were serious about taking a few because since I forgot my camera and didn't get any personal shots, I took a few good ones of yours from the upper bald.

And Alex gets the good deed of the trip award in my book - we passed that same hound when leaving a bit later and even though he still had his tracking collar on, he looked lost and VERY hungry. Alex stopped the procession to get out and give him a big pile of his dog's chow. He ate and looked pretty happy, wagging his tail as he grazed.

Good on ya, Alex!!

couple more thanks to my sister. I am always focused on taking pictures of smiling cruisers, that i forget to take pictures of smiling people. Lucky my sister was there to fill in for me.

also, i guess being the late one to leave cullowhee had a plus. THere was a hot air balloon event going on in Statesville that we drove up on. I had the hardest time not running into people due to the rubber-necking and stopping on the interstate to look. Was pretty neat.
