I've been a member of Mud for many years now, having owned a 2000 LC for about seven years, selling it, and then picking up an 03 a few years ago. I'm a Cruiser, and Toyota, devotee.

A couple of years ago, my father decided he wanted to downsize from his 12 4Runner limited, so he passed it on to us, and it's been my wife's DD. I never really paid much attention to it, since I never really drove it.

Recently I've been considering retiring my 03 100 from the daily commute since it has 242k miles, and I don't want to drive it into the ground. She wanted something with a third row, so we've been casually looking for the past month or so. I really wanted her to get a slightly used Patrol *cough* Armada, since they are an amazing value, but she doesn't like the way they look.

On the way to work the other week, I saw a black GX at a local import specialist that's been around for decades. I pulled over to take a look- 2015, one owner, local truck, full service records on Lexus website, no rust, immaculate interior, new Michelin tires and brakes. Truly a creampuff. The only downside was 78k miles. The owner of the shop handed me the keys and said bring it back tomorrow. Drove it home and my wife absolutely loved it. Hell, I loved it too. Feels like an updated 100 series. It's dead quiet, super comfortable, and drives so smooth. The 4Runner is a tractor in comparison; there is no comparison. Took it back the next day and told them I'd think about it. Well my wife and daughter clearly wanted it (and so did I), so I offered $25k. They were asking $29. We met in the middle at $27. After tax it was 27.5 out the door. I feel like it was a good deal. Premium package with real leather, ventilated seats, all that crap.

So now I've inherited the 4Runner, and we've got two 150s and the 100 in the driveway. i think I'm turning Japanese.

Congratulations! I am sure your family will enjoy it for many years to come. Make sure you also check out the GXOR page on Facebook (there are also separate FB pages for GXOR members in various states/regions) and www.lexusgxor.com for additional information and resources.

Congratulations!!
Not knowing what you want to do with it, you may want to check out some of the GX builds and the pinned GX manuals thread at the top of the 150 Series page, all on IH8MUD.
My wife and I both had our own 100 series Landcruisers and absolutely loved them. I built mine out as an overlander and hers was kept stock except for a little larger A/T tires.
The paint and interiors were getting a little tired but still mechanically perfectly strong with hers at 288k and mine at 255k miles and issues. Got rid of both of them for my 2013 GX and she got a 4x4 crewcab Taco which works great for surfing.
I've built my GX completely out as an overlander and my wife and I couldn't love it more!
One of the things I like about it compared to the LC is that it's a wee bit smaller for off-road trails and a tighter turning radius.
Personally, I think the Premium or Luxury (depending upon year) is the way to go!

BTW: even though I'm German/Italian and my wife's Dutch/German, we've turned Japanese decades ago. Just shy of top-ramen and rice for every meal, albeit, we do love sushi...

For what ever reason, your link doesn't work for lexusgxor.com. It may be the "www"
Try this: start [GX Offroad]
