You guys are not going to believe this. I go to pick up my crispy new 99 LC on Friday, River Rock Green, rear diff lock, rear ac unit, all records, timing belt changed. I get in the truck and the thing has no sunroof. I thought a sunroof was standard on the 99 LC. I stilled purchased the truck because I can have a sunroof added.

Weird. Was the roof standard or not?

It was an option like leather but I think the majority were ordered from Japan with sunroof i.e. dealer ordered so the consumers perspective was that it was standard.

Pimp would know I bet.

I for one could care less about the sunroof. But I am probably the exception ( :

Most aftermarket sunroofs suck. Don't do it! Might as well get T-tops.

Sunroof is the most useless option on the planet. Used maybe one or two days a year. The dash controlled rear wing windows do an awesome job of evacuating the hot air when you first crank up the AC. :D Just my opinion of course.

Guys, I run my sunroof over 70 days a year. It stays open all the time if possible. Useless to some, important to others.

Still hard to believe it was an option.

Yeah, I would not say useless. It could allow you to exit your vehicle in a sticky situation. I just do not see the value i.e. I am indifferent and that was my point.

Trade you my lifted 98 (with sunroof) for it ( :

It depends a lot on where you live and the climate there. I live in Texas and use my sunroof almost every day. I like the feel of the sun on my face. However, if you live in the northwest where it rains alot or somewhere that the mild to cold days outnumber the hot ones, then I can see how the sunroof wouldn't be as useful or popular.

Then again, some people are afraid of a little outside air and only use the ac. I usually only turn the ac on when other people are in the car or if I get stopped in traffic during the heat of the day. And of course when it rains.

We also utilize the sunroof frequently. I've never had a problem with a factory-installed sunroof, but did have issues with an aftermarket one, it was rather expensive to replace the control module. It was dealer installed...

I LOVE my sunroofs.......I have it open ALOT. I also just like the light that it lets in when closed.

yes sunroof was an option.

but here is the question...............how the heck did you not know it had no sunroof when you bought it?

I assumed it had one. Very bad assumption. Very long story. This is going to be pricey, the sunroof for the LC is $1395, takes 15 hours to install. Auto close when the vehicle is turned off. 2 memory settings, auto open, auto close, anti jam and has an option for a rain sensor so that if you do decide to leave it open it will close when the rain sensor detects rain.

Non-factory sunroof installations can be problematic. I wouldn't add one.

I wonder if additional bracing was used on factory sunroofs...and would they include any additional structural support with the sunroof mechanism.

What are the alternatives? Sell the LC and start looking again? or install a sunroof? Most people down south would not even consider a LC without a sunroof.

Here is the roof that is getting put in a couple of weeks. Called the TV.

You might be surprised. If I were buying a used unit, my preference would be sans sunroof. Unfortunately, virtually all LC's come with them so finding one without is like finding a needle in haystack....or a diamond in the rough.

That is who makes the sunroof I am having installed.

It is up for sale for 1 week. After that it is going under the rotozip.

A good friend of mine has used Earp's a few times and he's been very pleased with their work.

Not an endorsement from me as I know nothing about them, just passing along his experience...
