NO power!!

NO power!! Please help.

Tonight on my way home I tried to pass some deuche bag and floored it. I mean I got on the gas as hard as I could shifting before 3000rpm. Suddenly the rpms drop and I slow down. I get out of the gas and get back in the right lane.


I pulled into a parking lot and revved the engine. It idles smoothly and revs great and smooth but when I let the clutch out I can't give it enough gas to get it to move forward, without it trying to stall out. I push the clutch in and it revs back up.. I let the cluth out and give it alot of gas(more than normal) it all but dies. When I let the clutch out and push the gas a normal amount it will stall. So I have to floor the gas to keep it fropm dieing. The truck surges and jerks violently. What have I done.


What would cause this?

New fuel pump and spacers and gaskets. Third fuel filter in 2000 miles. Thanks very much for the clues.

I started it and drove it this a.m. and all is well.

Doing it again. I checked all vaccum lines to the distributor. I replaced the fuel pump a few weeks ago because of this issue. Could my new fuel pump be bad?

Toyota said is was done a while back. I honestly don't remember when they said it was done. I asked about it when I got the rear seatbelts fixed.

Today I noticed that one side of the carb (inside of the carb) on the passenger side of the truck is blackend and the other is other side is spotless. Is this normal?

Sounds like you have some crap in the carb. Sitting (no fuel flow) and it comes unblocked. Running and it gets restricted. Your not using much gas when you rev it up w/no load. This opinion is assuming the rest of the fuel sys is unrestricted.
