A couple of 1/4-20 bolts hold mine on the aftermarket tail gate.

not the best pic, its actually a shot of the cage. but you can see the plate and it uses the factory mount to bolt to the CCOT tailgate. and its wired so the lights work for night time so that johnny law don't stop you.

The plate bracket on a 78 and up will bolt on the amby door bolt holes,I have done it before I had a tail gate evenwith the tail gate you can still mount it there.
