My clutch fork has no resistance when the slave cylinder spring is detached. I was checking the resistance manually because I keep blowing out slave cylinders and now I can’t get any pedal. I have replaced the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, the rubber hose and made sure the steel line is clear. I bled the master cylinder and slave cylinder, checked pedal height and adjusted the clutch master cylinder.

The clutch did work when I first bought it last year and I drove it around the block it and felt like it had plenty of pedal left- then the new slave cylinder failed.

Is it normal to have basically no resistance at the clutch fork?
What is the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make certain you bleed the system really well.
Try a vaccum bleeder at the slave cylinder.
Just changed the master on my BJ74 and long story short is a good bleed.

I had a similar experience with my BJ40 shortly after I purchased.

My clutch slave cylinder failed as I was driving home from the purchase. When I replaced the slave cylinder and bled the system, like you I had no clutch.

I found after several re bleeds of the system, the problem wasn't with the hydraulic system but the clutch fork itself.
The retaining clips on the clutch fork had long since perished. When I removed the slave cylinder, the clutch fork had (having no retaining clips), unknown to me, disengaged from the throwout bearing. I hadn't re located the clutch fork correctly in the throwout bearing when assembling the slave cylinder/clutch fork and thus, no clutch.

May not be the case for you, but, as I've found on the forum here every bit of information has the potential to help.

Best of luck. Cheers, Neil.

Thank you so much! That makes perfect sense. I plan on pulling the transmission hopefully over the next few weeks. I will definitely post an update. Thanks again for sharing your experience. It is very helpful.
