You must have barely enough in the system to keep the pump primed, if you do indeed have no fluid visible in the tank don't raise it above N till you get the fluid level corrected else you run the risk of sucking air in, then you'll need to follow a specific routine to prime the pump. Check for gross leaks, if the missing fluid isn't on the ground it's in one or more accumulator globes or the height accumulator. That's potentially not good, but before anyone starts talking $$ and ripping the system out I'd (assuming you don't have a big leak that needs repairing) pour a can of AHC fluid into the reservoir and do a quick bleed routine to lower the level to the max line at neutral height. Monitor and fault find then.
