Will and I are going to leave from the Vista Blvd Chevron on Saturday morning at 0900 to head towards the old mine site/town of Nightengale. We are going to go in from the north side, so we will be driving up through Nixon and turning in above Winnemucca Lake and turning south from there and coming out at either IR 80 or possibly if we find the "School bus trail," we will come out just north of Nixon on SR447.

Neither Will or I have a ham radio (mine will be on order later this month) so this will be CB's and FRS's for com.

This will be (or should be anyway, it's been a few years since I was up that way) a stocker friendly run.

See anyone that wants to get out on what is supposed to be a very nice day at the Chevron.

Hey...isn't that a pic of somebody else's 80 in your avatar Jack? :flipoff2:

I keep it to remind me of a great trip with lots of adventure, incredible stucks and even better recoveries, great scenery and the best of times...

Ok, ok, I have been too lazy to change it out. So until I get a better one that I like, it stays.:flipoff2:

I was thinking about this....
However my dear mistress in the shop beckons!

Have fun though! Should be a great day!

That was an EPIC trip! I'll never forget the look on your faces when it was my turn to rip through that snow field...AT Horizon in tow...er in air :). Matter of fact I don't think I'll ever forget how I FELT when I did that and got through with a big blessing from Lady Luck and almighty God above! :D

My only regret on that trip was not videoing that run through the snow field. I'm sure a lot of doubters would change their mind about how you drive your rig and the hell you put that trailer through.

Of course it was probably better that it didn't surface, at least until after you sold the trailer anyway.

And yes it was definitely an epic adventure, one of our greats.

[strike]If the planets align, and so does my transmission, I'll try to talk :princess: into it.

This is mostly high speed gravel road right?

Dan[/strike]

Edit, never mind it's Saturday not Sunday.

Is this a call for assistance with a transmission install?

Naw, I already called in back-up. Fearless leader, who has installed more LC transmissions than I've seen, and the big guns; Chicago. He's going to hold the truck up while we work on it. :grinpimp:

But thanks for the thought.

You missed a good day.

I think Mr. Locrwln will be looking for mods in the near future. His belly be too low, his shocks fade and he needs grille protection from falling cruisers..

Very Fun Trip, think I like the 80 series better ...Now, man the 40 is just rough!

I was with you guys in spirit. Looks like a great time, I know the weather was good for it.

BTW the 60 is ambulatory again, just need to clean up a few odds and ends. It looks like a Crafstman tool bomb went off in my garage. I probably have half a day of tool cleaning to do. A big thanks to Fearless Leader and Chicago.

I didn't fall into him, but it was a close one...mental note...when climbing steep hill in OLD open dif Land Cruiser climb said hill in first gear at the start so one does not have to stop, almost fall into big chevy truck, down shift into first and then proceed uphill side ways. Sweet!

LOL.... I knew you didn't make contact, but the suspense was going to kill those that didn't attend.

BTW, Dan. Are tools supposed to be cleaned after you use them?? I thought you left the grease on there so you know which ones to use for each job..

I agree it was a good day. Even getting "lost" was awesome, that was a fun little side trip.

Actually the truck did great, but yeah I scraped the belly once or twice, nothing major, just little kisses. The front shocks did fade on me though, by the time we made it to pavement, the ride was a little "floaty."

And yes the weather was perfect. Good times and Will, Keith, thanks for going, it was a pleasure.

Not bad for a fullsize stocker. I doubt a stock Dodge would have done any better. I thought it did remarkably well for what it is.

I'm just glad I have power steering. I'm sure Keith will be stronger after his muscles recover. Especially after that downhill section with those nice little ruts...

Here's the co-pilot scoping out the trail.

She managed to walk about a foot before she decided that humans were born to drive or ride, not walk. Guess I'll be doing the spotting when she starts to drive...
