I got a report on the river's status from a fisherman - right now the big issue is the stink of rotting fish. If we don't get any rain, even that should be gone in a few weeks.

Does anyone know somebody who has been out wheeling on it lately? I'm wondering where a good place to start is.

The only places I've ever been are the Republican River where some family land is and The Little Nemaha near Talmage. I have no idea where you would even go to get into the Platte, is it even legal?

Hmm. You know - I have no idea if it's legal or not. Who would know if it is or isn't? It's a river - does anyone know someone at the Army Core of Engineers who might be able to shed some light on if it's OK to go four wheeling on a dried up river bed?

I'm going to be at Two Rivers Tuesday and Wednesday, so I'll see if anyone there knows and if there is an entry point.

That would be fun, I can't see how it would be illegal people drive through it, float it all the time.

Once again I am touch and go though, I know we have a wedding or two coming up, and then just our regular schedule. I will let everyone pick time and place and I will do my best to try and make it.

Not sure if this was a good idea or not but I got asked to run for city council here in Lexington so I put my name on the ballot. We will see how this goes. It will be a learning experience.

Scouting report from Two Rivers--when crossing the Platte on hwy 92 you can definitely see tire tracks in the riverbed. From the park it looks like someone used the service road to get in, but of course it is for wildlife management use only...

My September just got booked start to end (work), weekends included. We'll need someone not me to take the lead on this.

Last weekend I headed up to Lousiville to try and get in the Platte. This was a no go as not only was there no entry point but the water was really deep. After reading some online looked like Central City was the place to try next. Headed up there yesterday to look around. Found the entry point where everyone goes. It was clearly marked and there was lots of people cruising up and down in quads and dirt bikes. Talked to some people and they said it's no problem running the river. Had a lot of fun but as you can see in the pictures there was no water. With the sand being so dry the going was very difficult. Even in low range it took 50% or more throttle to move. Ended up stopping to get out and look around and noticed my radiator was spewing coolant badly so I waited a bit to let it cool down some. I was pretty concerned about getting stuck, being alone I decided to head home. Had a good time though. I'd love to go back as it was a pretty cool time being out there. If anyone is interested in going let's set a date and we can head out there. Having the river this low doesn't happen often.

That looks like a lot of fun, I haven't been down to my buddy's hunting ground to see the river but it is really dry out here as well.

I have a P0401 code that is coming up now and it is a horrible time because I am taking classes to get my real estate license and starting a city council campaign up :bang:.

I will more then likely take it to my mechanic here in town to try to fix.

My brother and I enter at northbend. It us a blast. Let us know if you want to come down.

RIver Rat Association

On august 10th-12th i went to the river rat's jamboree on the platte near central city NE. it was alright, had a great turn out and a pretty decent poker run up and down the river, but after a few hours it got kinda boring. everyone was told not to climb the banks, or wheel on the islands, so it was just alot of driving up and down the sandy river bed. Kinda boring as far as wheeling went, but there were alot of great people there, and even one other fj40 lol
