Well I got a Midland 75-822 CB radio and was very happy with their vehicle package.

You can look up the radio and see what is so nice about it.
It has an adapter with one cord that splints into two for the power adapter and external antenna hookup.

I found the perfect install on the FJ Cruiser Website. Here is the link:

So I elaborated on that idea for my LC.

(Sorry about the bad pics...all taken with cell phone )

First I removed the leather panel on the passenger side center console:

It pops right off.

Then the next panel snaps right off also:

Which leaves this:

Next I figured out exactly where I wanted the holes drilled. The thing to consider carefully is if there is enough room behind the holes for the 12v receptacle body and the antenna coupling.

I believe I found the perfect place up high on the panel. So I took the panel and clamped it to a piece of 2x4 and drilled my two holes.

Here was the result:

Here are the 12v receptacle and antenna adapter:

I placed the items in the holes and here is that result:

For the wiring, I just will run the wires behind the panels to the carpet area, then under the center console to the drivers side. Hook everything up from there.

Easy as pie!

All the credit goes to the FJ Cruiser Guy.....I just modified it for the 2008 LC!

how many receptacles does the 200 stock come with on the dash? Where'd you get the 12v plug?

I did the extra plug not because the current amounts were lacking. If you look at the link I gave at the start of the post, you will see that the CB I chose has the dual ended 12v plug and the antenna connection.

So I saw the way he had it setup and thought it looked great. All the cords in one small concentrated area.

I got the plug at the same place the original poster got his. A marine store. The reason for that is that all the ones I found locally did NOT have a cap for the plug, which makes it look pretty cheesy. The plug cover makes it look nice and clean. IMHO

Here is another pic of the Mdland CB plugged in so you can see how the finished product looks:

I guess my mods don't bring that much excitement anymore!

Not the case at all...that is a slick setup! You do have cohones...I wouldn't be drilling into my dashboard like that. Nice work.

Quick question, did you happen to check what the replacement cost for that piece was before you drilled?

Nah I didn't check it out. I really thought this mod was a great idea and didn't worry about it.

I did make sure that I wanted to do that panel for a few days before I did it. At first I was going to do the leather piece until I realized that there was no room behind that.

The was no reason not to drill the dashboard....it was the perfect place for it!

I find I used to cut into the smaller panels if I wanted to do something, incase I wanted to go back I could buy a cheaper replacement.

I agree.

That panel looks big, but in reality the leather piece on top is actually another part.
