Greetings all..... I just purchased my first LC and am planning on joining UC. I bought a 99' with 150k miles on the clock. Since it had 3 previous owners and no service history was provided/available, I want to have a reputable mechanic take a close look at the motor (make sure the timing belt has been changed, regular service/maintenance has been completed, etc.). I have seen (posted on the Mud site) that Ralph Hayes Toyota offers a 25% discount to Mud members but figured I would ask if there are any other recomendations out there.
Once the engine checks out, I am looking into adding a small lift and then start adding some goodies.
Very much looking forward to joining the club and attending an event soon.

Welcome! We have some pretty good events coming up, the parkway run is always a good one, and a good way to meet up with a good group of the club. Check out the events calendar, and try to come out to anything that catches your eye...

I've owned a 98 and 00, and here are some common things to check out:

1. Timing Belt/Water Pump
2. Starter (they tend to wear out around 15ok)
3. Wheel sensors (especially if your truck lived up north)
4. Inspect Brakes
5. Replace "packs" that go to spark plugs.
6. Change out gear oil.

There are split opinions about changing transmission fluid. You may want to throw in an extra EFI relay in your glove box, they are cheap and come in handy if yours goes bad. (Mine did) I also understand that with the 99, you really do need premium (I blame Todd for this piece of trivia).

X2 on Ralph Hayes and ACC.
