just picked up an xo caged 92 yoda from wicked fab in santa clara, where do i start? it is a 92 pick up, any pointers on engine and basic check up. timing belt? service stuff? I already have an 80 series cruiser but know nothing about the 4 banger engines in 92 in pickups, let me know I will post pictures soon, it is sick, rear dana 60, dual case, 38 swampers etc, etc,

Welcome to the 22RE brother hood. It's a great engine. Any repair history with it? If not I'd pull the valve cover and take a look at the timing guides, and adjust the valves (10mm wrench, screw stick and a feeler gauge. Real easy).

Check TPS

Change fuel filter, as it's probably never been done. Shall we assume it's been SAS'd as well as the Dana? If so, then no CVs to worry about.

Go here, lot's of good tech stuff that is the same as your 92:

thanks, I will check it out. What is SAS? The front end is a dana 44 with chromolly axles and a ez lock. I am going to swap with dana 60 and arb hopefully by summer. the suspension is some weird hybrid leaf setup that is so flexy that it is like butter on a ham sandwich

SAS= Solid Axle Swap. 92's came with poopy IFS

yeah definitely need some pics ....

kinda mad max-ish, i dig it , sweet truck.

now I just need to learn how to drive it on the rocks, my only off roading is with 33s on my cruiser, this is like a whole new level

I'd also suggest replacing the timing chain if you dont know whether it has been changed previously. Lots of good write ups on this procedure and cheap parts fron good vendors such as engnbldr.com

Welcome to the cheaper... les expensive side of wheeling.

its possible you have seen many pictures of it before, I bought it from wicked fab owner and pirate regular, I am sure he put it through the ringer and the gauntlet. Now its mine and I already replaced the driver side door. This weekend is oil change, fluid checks, redo the monkey wiring. The guy who had it was definitely challenged by doing wiring. I have never seen such a freakin hack job in my life. wires taped togehter and ground wires just wrapped around bolts. The window wash container has a hole. Lot of little things. The steering wheel is removable. Pretty cool. I take my steering wheel into my cube : )
