First - thank you all for the wonderful welcome to this forum! I've been having lots of fun taking the 40 apart - hoping I remember where things go. I'm struggling with putting in a new wiring harness (EZ Wiring) but it ain't so easy. But I've got an Auto Electric shop right around the corner - I think they'll be getting a call tomorrow!!! I'm looking for that piece that the exhaust pipe attaches to - it bolts to the engine block - is that the exhaust manifold? Does anyone know where an old one might be lying around? Would I need to replace a gasket between it and the engine block and if so where would I find one of those?? Thanks again!! And then there's that piece on the carburator that's got wires running from it - maybe an idle something ..... WAIT - I promise one question at a time!

Yes exhaust manifold. Its best to keep the intake and exhaust as a pair because they are machined that way and if you don't it will be harder to get a full seal. There is a gasket between the manifold and the block, there is also one where the exhaust bolts to the manifold. There are probably a few lying around with people in the club here that you could pick up cheap. For the gaskets you can check out all the different online parts sources Specter Offroad, TPI, Cruiserparts, etc, etc but I would call Rick at Ralph Hayes and compare his price with the best you can find online his will probably end up lower with the club discount.

As for your cabr do you know if its an Aisin or something else, got a pic? Heres a link to carbs if you can find a pic of the right one that would work too. I would think your referring to the fuel cutoff solenoid.

Thanks for the info!! Just went to the Spector site - AWESOME - you can rebuild your whole ride right there!! I ordered the carburator solenoid you described - but am glad to know you can get other things as well. Need to get a long list together to cut down on shipping "one piece at a time." I think I'm going to wait on the exhaust - and just put a bandaid on it until the fall.

I wouldnt order to much from Specter check around a lot, Specter is generally known for being the highest priced place. They are good cause they have all the exploded diagrams though.
