Just joined the cruiser family yet again. Previously owned an 88 fj62 sold it when first daughter came along. NOW IM BACK. Looked long and hard for a relatively low mileage 100. Picked up from original owner a 2000 cruiser with only 65k on it in Florida. Was only used when he went down there so it's sat quite a bit.. Absolutely love the power and roominess. I've searched the forums and couldn't quite get the answer I'm looking for.

The One and only thing not working is the air conditioning. There's no freon in the system and the rear ac lines have some corrosion from the salt air. I'm almost certain the rear lines are bad somewhere. I've read that the rear ac lines can be capped off to limit the ac to the front only. Does anyone know where exactly to cap the lines off at? Is it as simple as cutting the high and low pressure line that goes to the rear and inserting the caps and charge the system? Does anyone advise not "rigging" the system this way? Talking to my local toyota dealer all the rear ac lines cost around $700 plus alot of labor.. But I'm hearing you have to remove the exhaust to change the lines. I am somewhat mechanically inclined and just changed the tbelt and waterpump on it. I'm definitely not new to Toyotas as I own 4 of them. Just my first "new" cruiser. Everything looks more robust as to what I'm used to if you know what I mean. Any help would be appreciated and I look forward to meeting some new friends on here. Thanks in advance

I have not done it but I believe others with the same problem have been able to bypass the leaking, rusted out area of hard line with flexible hose.
