Hello to all!
My name is Curt and I live in McCalla AL. just between Tuscaloosa and Bham. I have always wanted an FJ40 since riding in one as a kid, it was a friend's uncle that took us hunting and I will never forget riding on those jump seats. I thought it was the coolest truck I had ever seen! It was smurf blue with black interior and I believe mostly stock and in perfect condition. Well nearly 25 years later I had decided I really wanted one so I sold a few other toys and started my search. I looked at several and finally found one off Craigslist that was listed in Tennesee just above Knoxville. After 2 trips to Knoxville I finally trailered it home with the help of my brother. I gave $6K for this 1980 FJ that has the stock F2 Engine, freshly rebuilt transfer case, very good interior with 60/40 seats, Weber carb, Snorkel, Power Steering and front disc brakes. This FJ was shipped in from Honduras about 5 years ago so its never seen the salty northern roads and has minimal rust. I have found only 2 rust spots that need addressing in the left rear upper panel from leaks. The underbody was coated years ago with rust proofing that has started to peel but aparently did its job.
So far I have changed all of the fluids in the front/rear ends, transfer case and transmission with synthetic oil. Fixed some minor electrical problems with the lighting. Changed spark plugs, installed new fuel line and removed the PO's heater.
My soon to be upgrades (money and wife willing) will include Vintage Air A/C, shocks and stabilizer, Sound pad for noise and heat, Carburetor, one wire alternator and hopefully a new stereo system.
Here is a photobucket link of some pics I took last week in the back yard.

Right now my funds got pulled tight with my home AC unit and coil dying on me but hopefully in a few months I can get it all accomplished and have a cool daily driver.
This forum is AWESOME when it comes to info on an FJ! I have found answers to every thing I have needed to know! THANKS!
Most 40's have a white bezel - Should I paint it white or leave it black? I am leaning to the white..... your thoughts?
