LC76 - First trip 2.webp

I have realized my dream vehicle, and have a base model LC76. It's petrol, but here in Dubai that is infinitely superior for running the dunes. I have made a few mods that are aimed at off road performance, and one of the best is the installation of LSD's front and rear. (Thank you JT's for shipping them out to me). The improvement in the desert is dramatic, but the steering on the road is HEAVY. No bucking or jerking like you would find with a locker, but very heavy with lightning fast and strong return-to-center.

I would like to install manual hubs to improve the highway manners. But - I have recently been informed that the splines on the outer axles for the auto-hub versions are different than the splines for the manual hub versions. I have Option #3. Drive flanges.

Parts guys here only look at chassis numbers, and the chassis number only lists the parts the vehicle came with. So no luck on a part number.

Can anyone tell me what hubs I need to buy, and whether I will need to change the outer axles to install them?

Thanks for the help guys.

What a coincidence ......you have also realized my dream vehicle. :)

Aisin hubs are the ones you want. 30 spline count I believe, but your auto hubs probably come with a course spline or a different spline count. You will need to remove your hub and see what you have in there. If they don't match you will need to swap in new birfields.

I am fairly new here too, but perhaps someone can comment on what birfields will work with 70 series axles. I used birfields and hubs from a FJ60 for my swap onto a 1975 fj40. The birfields must match the hub, both the teeth count and length. There are short and long body hubs, so if you have the shorter birfields you need the short hub body.

Correct. Significant differences between the 1980's 7x front axles (same as 60/61/62).

Then you have the 1990's front axles that mimic the 80 series early stuff (1991-1992 here in the states.) You will need the 238.5mm length birfield and 43530-60042 manual hubs.

When they went to 10mm studs and 5 lugs in 1999 the birfs and hubs changed again. Yours will be the latter version.

The hubs you needs: 43530-69065.

Wow! Thanks for the feedback guys!

Beno, I can't help but notice you have both a part number and a banner that says you sell parts. Do you have these in stock? And would these fit my drive-flange axles, or require different outers? I forgot to mention in the original post that mine is a 2015 GRJ76L-RKMNKV

.

Thanks!
