Hello. I just joined IH8Mud the other day cause I'm looking to buy an FJ40. I found 2 in NC. Ones in Raleigh and I don't know where the other one is. The problem is I'm in Iraq right now so I'm in the most inconvenient place to check them out. Would anyone be willing to look at them and maybe take some pictures? It would be greatly appreciated. Even if someone could vouch(sp?) for the truck. Thanks

here's a 77 in Pine Knoll Shores

and a 79 in Raleigh

I used to own the '79 FJ40 in Raleigh. It does have a fairly solid body on it, it just doesn't look like it because it is several different colors. I think the only rust was in the rear quarter panels and driver side front floorboard, and none of it was real bad.

I sold it to the current owner about 4 years ago. When I had it, it was completely stock with the 2F in it. He has swapped in the V8, suspension lift, and tires. It could definelty be a nice FJ40 with a little work.

R.K.: He sent me some pictures of it. There was rust holes underneath the "kick vents" and around the edges of the doors. He cut the driverside floorboard out to replace it but never did. It looks pretty rough. I don't mind as long as the frame and body are solid and repairable. The problem is I can't look at it in person and I wouldn't want my dad, who would be driving from Richmond, VA, to get there and say no. It also doesn't run.
That one in VA Beach would be nice because its closer but its a little to much and to clean.
