First of all great forum guys.. lots of info but not able to find quite what I am looking for using the search.

First off a little bit about my ride.

1987 Land Cruiser with 208000 on the clock the paint is loosing some of the clear coat on the drivers side but the passanger side is looking good. got some rust and concerned about the frame rust at the rear leaf spring connection but getting a buddy to weld it for me so should be good for what i am using it for. Paid 600 bucks for it.. runs decent after puting some new plugs in her.

A/C PROBLEM.. the guy i bought it from said it worked last year.

seems like the system is not locked up and the clutch will move with no problem. seems like it has freeon in there also.

problem is the clutch is not engaging. buddy of mine has a yukon that had the same problem and it was just a relay. anyone know where the relays for the AC are located on the land cruiser... figured might as well try that out first before getting into anything expensive.

might be to vague but thought someone who had a similar problem might know what i am talking about.

on the front of the evaporator case you'll find a small cigarette sized box with the A/C amplifier in it. It looks at the thermistor, pressure gauge, and motor RPM and then decides whether to send 12v to the a/c clutch to engage it. That is where I'd look first. There is a pretty good description on troubleshooting it in the FSM. If you don't have one you can get it for free from www.birfield.com in the manuals section. 84-90 body/chassis manual...
