I need new tires, and so, thought it an opportunity to upgrade from stock 16". I'm thinking 18" with 285/60r18 tires. Can anyone and everyone let me know what combination works best? I have the AHC and think I will keep this for a while. I just want to get an all terrain tire that will perform well, on both street and trail. I live in Virginia where the GW National forest is calling... it's clay and rocky terrain.
And, BTW, I will have a set of stock 16"Lexus wheels for sale....

I have 18" Lexus wheels on my 2000 model year with 285x65x18 Nitto Trail Grapplers. In HIGH setting they never rub but in NORMAL setting they will rub slightly if turning, downhill with any push against tire...just barely.

They were a little wider than I wanted initially as I am a fan of tall skinny but they fill wheel well nicely on the LX.

I too am keeping AHC until it shiztes the bed....then will put in Ironman suspension all around.

Pics in my build thread.

I like the 18" look but, I also like the ride of 16" off road. Kinda of a love hate.

Good luck and post some pics!

has anyone used the Kumho Road Venture SAT KL61 tires? They have excellent reviews on tirerack, but wanted to hear from this group for a vehicle specific review. How compare to Nitto's Tera Grappler or even Firestone Destination AT?

They just recently beat out the Firestone AT on tirerack. Sounds like most people are very happy with them, they are new so there's no long term reviews yet. Doesn't look like it comes in stock LC size so no LC specific reviews. What size 18's are you looking to go for?

I want to go 285/60, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of choices. I think 285/65's or 275/65's will open up more choices in good tires. The Firestone Destination and the Nitto Terra Grappler's are available in 285/60's, so I may just go with one of these. I saw the results on tirerack and thought the Firestones have many many more miles logged, but was stilled curious about the Kumho's. Oddly enough, I saw for the first time a set of the Kumho's on a pick up today, they look pretty sweet.

I went with the Cooper Zeon LTZ in a 285-60 18. I have put about 20K miles on them this year. They have worn very well. I would say that they have at least half the tread left. I did notice they got a little louder after 20K miles, but it is an AT so some of that is to be expected.
