I was reading the paper, and it said there was $200k given for the development of a new Off-road vehicle area in the Northumberland county area - anyone else heard about this?

They should get some clubs involved like Harlan did in KY to help clear trails!

did it mention reading anthracite at all?...was it in the daily item or the danville paper(forget the name, i dont read it much:lol:)

2-1/2 years ago reading anthracite company was given a $100k grant to perform a feasability study of an offroad park on their property, specifically 3,800 acres in the shamokin/trevorton area, they own over 20k acres in northumberland/schuylkill counties that for the most part aren't active at all, i think they have until july of this year to get something started...i wrote a short research paper about it last semester for my english class

looking forward to hearing more info about it, i've been hearing rumors about something big happening for a few years now from a few locals;)

Sounds like you can just go exploring...

yes, you can wheel out there with a permit legally...only if your rig is registered and insured, but technically if i took my buggy out there that wouldn't be legal, i can almost guarantee i wouldn't be hassled...but an actual offroad park would be better in the long run

zu - it was in the Press Enterprise.. In talking to some guys over at R&S fab, it's one of those places that people have been wheeling for years that's gonna get legit.. I think me mentioned treverton/shamokin..

I found a bunch of mud videos on youtube with these big block bronco's on 66's, but apparently there's some good rock trails too..

yeah people have been wheeling there for decades, literally...the terrain is exactly like paragon and rausch, its just that there because of the mining, and there's been so much dirtbike and mud truck traffic there that the trails arent as specific, and some of the rock sections need trails cut, there's literally 40-50k acres out there

like i said reading anthracite owns over 20k acres, and the park will probably be under 4k acres which is still awesome, if you have one of the current permits that they sell your allowed to cut trails from what i've heard, there's a few older threads on pirate about it
