Are there any indications that the rubber grommets on the newer style steering rack keep up better than the old style. The new type has two vertical bolts, one at each side, while the old one has a big clamp at the RHS and two bolts on the LHS. See illustrations below.
There are two threads describing the change of grommets, one for each type, but I've haven't heard that many having (had to) changed on the new style.

So, is it correct to assume that the new style gives less slop at the same "age"?

I was trying to get a better understanding just last night. I did notice there are rebuild kits that Toy is selling for the internal components of the rack. Never got a answer to my original inquiry but was also wondering how long and how well the rebuild is working.
