Today I got to weld with a WW2 "Shield Arc" welder from the Richmond shipyards. It was sweet. It welded just like any welder, but it was just cool that it put together Liberty ships at one point.

A shop next to me is going out and offered this to me for $150.00
If someone in So Cal once it I will pick it up. It has cables, helmet and some stuff to go along with it. It has wheels on the back side. Small dent on top.

As a kid, I always rejected old things because they were ugly and did not do as much as the newer technology did. now that I am much older, I really appreciate old, trusted, hardy equipment that is simple, can be repaired and is down right tough. If I am not mistaken, is that a Dialarc? I want one of the older miller tig machines. Man, would I ever love to have any tig. Mig just does not work with aluminum as much as tig does plus...not deal with the annoying sparks like mig gives off.
