Yeah- boy!

When are you moving?

It's officially official now. I'll be moving the 2nd week of June. My last day here (at my job) will be the 8th. I'll move sometime that week.

I know my wife and I just met you for the first time this spring at Hickory Park and we were hoping to get to know your family better. This may be better, we can visit you out there some winter when we need a break from the weather. We are trying to slow down but when you own a business it’s hard to get away. We did send in our $ for our membership but have not received any information yet. Best of luck to you!

I'll ask the treasurer about your membership- Thanks and Welcome!

Hey Doc, I see utah as your location. How about some pictures of the area.

I promise I won't get mad....Maybe jealous.

I actually don't have my camera here yet.

I'll get some camera phone pics and see if they turn out.

But here's a visual description of where I live.

Every morning that I drive to work I have to cross over a low mountain pass (6600 ft) to the high desert plateau where the base is located. The plateau is populated rather densly by pronghorn antelope. I see at least 5 per day, on a slow day. We also have 2 herds of wild horses which you get to see occasionally. There are so many mountains around that it actually keeps us cooler than you'd imagine. And no humidity- dry, dry, dry. No friggin' cicada's or mosquitos either. Oh, and if you see a trail going off into the mountains you can drive on it. You don't need to ask or get a permit. Utah is over 80% public land, open to vehicles of all types. I've done a little wheeling since I've been here, nothing major- just checking out some of the dirt roads mostly.

Yes, I am Jealous!

Where are you from SLC? I spent 10 years in Boise and made a few excursions to Utah, just wondering if I ventured any where close to where you are located now. Sent from BHCC and it has been good. Kind of muddy for here. Did Iceman yesterday and took an easy one today. Will try to do 4-5 rated trail tomorrow.-Larry

some pics

some pics of the area.

First one is a copper pit mine. It's huge. I'm approx 2000 feet above the mine when I took this picture. It drops about 1/2 a mile if I remember correctly.

Second is some of the local 'fauna'. Pronghorn. That shot was taken from the parking lot of my base housing.

Third is the lawn of my new house. Sorry, I didn't have a full house shot.

One more:

Two random wild horses walking around the base. Usually they are in herd's of at least 20.

The base is located on a high desert plateau (if you couldn't tell). My house is located in a valley between two mountain ranges. I'll try to remember to get better pics of that area- not as dry as the base.

Where are you from SLC?

30 minutes west and south, along the Wasatch front.

Good luck at BHCC- wish I could be there!

I hadn't really planned on it. But- it's so close.....

I missed the 'early sign up' deadline 'cause cash is getting tight with the move and everything...

Are you a member of WC (wasatch cruisers)?

I just need to spend some more time on the trails just exploring the local area.

Are you going?
