New toyota gasket.... Plastic ?

I have just received my water pump from Toyota. I realize that new gasket is made of plastic.

It seems to me that the precedent was made of cork... or some material of the kind.

Does the plastic are effectives ?

had the same thing happen-I got a new OEM waterpump with a hardplastic gasket.
I just installed it, and so far it is not leaking a drop, but it has only been 200km

OK I installed my water pump and nothing seem to leak me to. (!!!)

Anyway that was a pretty dump question... why beleive they change the material for worst ?

I will try to be more pertinent in the futur
