You are right, but the F650GS is shorter than most of their other bikes, and there are options to lower the suspension and the seat. It's one of the few bikes out there used by shorties. As it sits now, I can barely touch the ground with both feet. To ride it home, I was definitely leaning to one side, and doing the one-foot-touchdown. This one has the normal suspension and normal seat.. so I am working on getting a lowered seat/suspension before I continue to use it. It is a 2006 with under 3k miles, and also came with the aluminum panniers, which I have in my garage now.
Ron,
I thought the 650's have adjustable seats from the factory. If you pull the seat off there might be bars you can move up or down for mounting...

They weren't adjustable, but they made 2 seat heights. THe "low" one was on the f650gs, and the taller one was standard on the Dakar(now Sertao) versions as far as I can tell. They did however, make a lowered suspension version of the f650 gs which was a lower shock, and different springs in the front.

Mine was the standard suspension, and standard seat height. I ended up ordering an aftermarket "low" seat from Wunderlich, as well as Kouba lowering links to drop it about 2 1/4 inches. Just enough for me to stand on the balls of my feet. I have been reading the boards for these and complaints on the cost of aftermarket parts.. perhaps its just because I am coming from the Cruiser, they all seem like a drop in the bucket.

Anywho, got it all done on Saturday, so I spent Sunday accumulating some miles:

Sweet! I love my k100rs but I miss my gs. Great bikes.

May be selling my k100 if anyone is keen; love to see her stay with friends.

I think I was hoodwinked by my brother and neighbor - in cahoots. :bang: After taking on the role of scout on the HITR run, I went out on a couple of rides with him - he was on his Kawasaki KLR650 and I rode his Suzuki DR250, the one he took on the HITR run. My neighbor took one of his 4 or so bikes on one - an '09 Kawasaki KLX250S. Well the last bike I had was a previous version of that one labeled the KE250. That was in the olden days, as my daughter would say. Her definition of "olden days" is probably the same as anyone's, before she was born - as this was before many here.

Anyway my neighbor decided to sell his KLX250S, so I bit...

I'm likely going to buy a 250 dirt bike in the spring, so I can get some experience off-road with a lighter bike. I am also considering one of the KLX250S, or Yamaha's TW200.

Nice find! What year is it?

I ride an 07 RT... there's a local club, http://www.loebmwr.org/forum/, with road, dirt, and dual sport riders... good group of guys, very much like HDC

I have a 2008, I just sold my 2011 R1200RT, so many gravel roads out here I didn't want to spill it so I figured I'd find a older GS that was already used and abused so I won't care if I drop it.

I just checked out that other forum, looking forward to meeting some other folks!
