I'd like to suggest an automotive smoker for the next club tool purchase. I've seen Ryan use his on a number of occasions to track down vacuum and intake/exhaust leaks at tech days. Also good to find evap system leaks throwing check engine lights. Curious if you guys think this would be a useful club tool. A smoker can potentially be used on 40s through 200 series trucks so seems like it'd get some use around the club. I've looked up a few online and prices are all over the place $200-$800.

Made one:
- Paint can
- Tiki torch wick
- Nichrome wire
- Low pressure regulator and gauge
- Electrical terminals
- Air hose fittings
- Mineral oil
12V @ 5A = Smoke

Sweet! How much for parts and labor? Think you can make it idiot proof? I wonder if I can track down all the different sized rubber cone stoppers and the evap port fitting.

Parts cost? No clue. I did this a few years ago (I can’t remember what I did yesterday :hmm: ). Most everything except for the regulator and gauge are available at the local hardware store. If you want to build one, I have left over rubber O rings and nichrome wire I can donate.
