Nice to see a good group of cruiser fanatics in jersey. Didnt expect it. Anyway im new to all of this like i said but i finally got around to purchasing my first cruiser, an 85 fj60. Ill get a pic up when i get the chance. She needs work but what 60 in the area doesnt... id like to hear opinions and it would be nice to get in on the meets ive been reading about. The main reason im posting this is to ask if people know any good cruiser mechanics in northern jersey. I know there are a few listed in the mechanics by state thread but the one closest to me no longer exists. Please let me know. Thanks guys.

Thanks man. Def some good info. Ill give him a call within the next few days. I'm sure he'll be able to help with the custom grill guard I've been looking to get as well. So his specialty is welding but he does work on cruisers as well?

Welcome to the forum.
How northern in Jersey are you?
Also anything currently wrong with the cruiser?
What are your goals for the truck?

Thank man. And yes the main problem it have is an engine knock. I bought it like this the guy I bought it from said the knock developed after he did a flush on the engine. Not sure why he did that... It's also the second engine for the truck. The guy I bought it from put it in himself. I'm debating on swapping it for maybe a 3fe or another 2f I'm not completely sure what the best thing to do is. Besides that as of now my goal for the vehicle is to get it running well mechanically. Once that happens I'd like to start building it into a decent off road vehicle and just making it mine. Upgraded interior grill guard duel swinging rear bumper ect. This will be my first time really building a vehicle so I'm learning along the way. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well I would definitely look at some of the builds on this site, there are tons of them and they vary from mild to wild.
So you will surely be able to find some things you would like to do to the truck.

When it comes to motors, diesel swaps are getting more popular and also swapping small block Chevy engines are common as well.
