Hey Guys,
I am new to San Antonio and the FJ40 world. I got an 82 FJ40 about six months ago. It's been tough to find a good mechanic I can trust. I think I have found one, but only time will tell. I've got it out at Alamo Auto Doctors working on the mechanics. Anybody know how good he is on the FJ? I am trying to make my FJ40 a daily Driver. As it is now I have the CCOT a/c kit. It's not nearly powerful enough. Also, I'm getting a lot of fumes coming into the cab. I have a lot of dynamat laying around and was thinking about lining the interior with the dynamat, any thoughts? Anybody know any other way to insulate the cab and keep fumes out? It has lizard skin sprayed on the interior but it's not enough and i'm not too confident in the guy who sprayed it. I was thinking about lining it with dynamat then getting somebody to line the dynamat with a marine type carpet even on the walls and inside of top. Again, I don't even know how to go about looking for a shop that does this kind of work, or if the idea is realistic. GIVE ME SOME FEED BACK PLEASE! ALL SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED!
Thanks Guys!

WELCOME TO TLCA!
As to your question - no idea... I own a Taco and do the majority of the work myself.
How about posting up some pics of your ride.
Welcome again!

Here are some pics

Here are some pics from out at the ranch, the one of it in the shop is without the new shocks and bigger shackles.

Very nice. Welcome!

I've not heard of that shop but that doesn't mean anything. Someone will post up the name of a shop they have used but alot of us do our own work. There is wimberly offroad on the North side of New Braunfels. The mechanic is good but the shop is a bit pricey.
As far as making the rig more sound proof, I've not heard of any good way other than dynamat stragetically placed but it still is noisey in them.
I have not heard any good or bad things about the CCOT AC kit but if you want a better setup try Vintage Air, They are local and seem to have a better fit.

Welcome to SA and LC's,

I would think that due to the uneven texture of the Lizard Skin that the dynamat wouldn't completely attach, leaving voids which in time can cause issues. I would say at this point either have more LS applied or a thicker bed liner type material.

I'm going to have to lay the dynamat over the lizard skin and use a heat gun and a roller to get all the air out. I'm dying to coat the inside in dynamat I've got a ton!
