Hey Guys,

I'm moving to NJ in 3 weeks. I have a 1987 FJ60, desmoged. I think you can anticipate my problem. Do you think I can pass emissions? Still have the Cat. Any recommendations on friendly places to go. I'm moving to Warren County.

What is the deal with QQ plates? As you can see from the pics below, it is stock. Is it problematic to drive these around? Online the Collector vehicles have a mileage restriction, but the Historic plates don't really mention any specifics.

Thanks for any insight.

First of all, gorgeous truck.
All NJ does is a tailpipe sniff now. If your 3FE is in good shape and the cats and O2 sensors are good, then you should have no issues. I go to the state inspection centers. It's free. They will check some minor mechanical items and make sure your wheels aren't falling off, but they don't open the hood.

Thanks Jon,

I'm gonna do some major rust prevention in the next couple weeks. The truck is an AZ truck mostly and has no rust whatsoever. I don't want to ruin that. I'm gonna go the POR15 route.

Thanks for the info about the testing. I'm glad they don't open the hood. Hopefully I can get through the sniffer. I'll just make sure my 2F is tuned up.

Duh. FJ60. I had FJ62 on the brain. Sorry about that. My neighbor has a mint FJ62 in white. Looks just like yours. His is from TX.

I'm trying to remember if someone in GCLC has a white 40 and a white 100 Series.
I have a white 80. That would make a pretty cool picture.

I knew what you meant. That would be great pic. Mine has a little "spice" with the pin stripes. I'm hoping to get involved when I move down in a couple weeks.

Welcome to Jersey. Truck it looks super clean.
Definitely look into some rustproofing. I would look into some fluid film on top of the por-15.

Thanks StevoJonesFJ60. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in the area of Warren County that is used to these trucks? I'm willing to drive some distance, but I just want to get some people in mind. Just in case.

Closest to you would be Dave Crum's shop in Butler, NJ. I guess it depends where in Warren County you are, but he's right off 287.

He does great custom fab work, has a full shop with a 2 post lift, and knows Cruisers well.

OK4WD in Stuartsville is a GCLC friendly 4WD shop, but they are mostly Jeeps. Good prices on tires and other generic items.
