I bought a roof rack from a fellow mudder up in Virginia last week, it's a full length Tradesman. Ashley started feeling a lot better this morning and was able to go to work today, so with her problems hopefully behind us I had a few minutes to get it put on the 80 this evening. First thoughts on the rack are good, it's built pretty stout with a full mesh floor. Its a little rusty so my plan is to have it powder coated in the near future. I didn't have time to drive with it on this evening so I am sure I will be shocked at the wind noise when I drive to work in the morning. Here are a few pics

That's how I justified getting it :D

I had the same rack...maybe not exactly but very similar. Wind noise was almost unbearable. You can't open the sunroof or you can't hear yourself think. I was to lazy and to busy with other projects but you might want to see if you can come up with a shield to get the air to flow up an over.

Otherwise it looks great and they are very handy for those long trips when you pack heavy.

Well I drove the 80 to work today and I have to say I am shocked. I was expecting a lot of wind noise and after Jason said his similar rack was noisy I was expecting it to be really bad, but I have to say I really never even noticed it. Much quieter than the load bars that I took off,I had to pay attention to even hear any noise at all. It was a pleasant surprise, now I can start loading it with diapers!

IMPOSSIBLE :) You are lucky. How fast were you traveling? Mine wasn't to bad below 50 but you get above that and it exponentially got worse.

I know it shocked me also. I was running about 55-60 and honestly I really never even noticed it. I will say I was used to the almost 60 inch load bars that were probably the most windy things I have ever heard.
