so I got a set of OME mediums last night from a cascade cruisers guy in Salem, (thanks again sprocket3) my plan was to set them aside till I have the other parts I need to install, but he said I don't "need" any other parts; (shocks, brake lines, caster bushings, etc..)

anybody know why I could not throw these under the rig this afternoon? :D

He loaned me his spring compressor set, I have the tools and space and time to do it, just wondering if I'll be disabling moby in time for the run tomorrow or enabling him.

done some searching; can't find any reason not to go for it now, wish me luck:hillbilly:

Spring compressor not necessary. Install is easy and straightforward, go to Slee's website for detailed instructions. I am not sure if stock shocks are long enough to work...that would be my only concern.

I figure they will be my only limiting factor, limiting down travel a bit. Will be getting shocks soon though, so I can live with that till I get those.

Stock shocks will work fine.

You're only about an hour away from Medford. Feel free to come on down some weekend and I can help you.

It's all extremely easy....EXCEPT for the steering dampener. Grrr......

so they worked better than I figured even with the shocks limiting the down travel. On road they change the drive-ability about 1000%, but the stink-bug stance is on with a vengeance, had to adjust my lights last night a full bubble:eek:

so what shocks are going to give my axles their full range back? I know the kit came with N73 &N74E shocks; any of you '80 guys running these or have an opinion otherwise?

I have a post up on the main board too so I'll get my answer one way or another.

great to meet and wheel with you guys saturday, been way to long since I had the opportunity, thanks.

The standard OME shocks work okay for flex. I'm 90% convinced that I am going to move to the L shocks, at least in the front. The rear I'm already rubbing when tucked so I'm not sure I can really get much more flex there.

That's with 315's. A smaller tire will tuck better, meaning you'll have more flex. The trade off is of course less total lift.

Running "L" shocks on the back will increase your downward travel and you most likely will need to extend your bumpstops to protect the shocks from full compression at uptravel. This will also help keep your tires from stuffing too far into your fenderwells. You might need to address your brake line length when going to "L" shcoks as well. I have "L" shocks, extended brake line and extended bump stops on my rear, but with "J" springs which should only be 1/2 longer at most.

J springs are 3" lift? are they stock wind/load cap?

I know little about the options for the crusher, just that a deal's a deal and I can always learn.:hillbilly:
I do want a set of front 1&1/2 spacers from metaltech so I can get away from looking like a stinky bug, probably need CC bushies then for sure. later on those items, ....but if going that route, L shocks front and back?

J springs are approx 3" in front and 3.5" in rear. (If I remember right....)

Garett's about an inch higher than my on lift I think. But he might only be half an inch higher. Keep in mind he has a *LOT* of weight with ARB, winch, sliders, and rear bumper, so that might make the difference.
